La Risata Restaurant Review

OK, normally I wouldnt write a review at all about something, but I had the instinct as a citizen to warn the public about a place that isn't worth spending your money at. La Risata Restaurant somewhere in Medan Damansara.
For starters, trying to get a parking space there is a pain. My dad had to park 500 yards away from the block. Even on a night of a working day, the place is packed for one reason; the alcohol. They had a menu for food, and an equally thick menu for the liquor. The non-alcoholic drinks were in the food menu. I realized that that we were the only malay people in that restaurant, the rest of the place was packed with people from other races sipping expensive wine. My sis-in-law ordered a chicken dish. We all had our food served, then only the hostess came out saying that they ran out of chicken *what freakin restaurant runs out of chicken on a thursday night?*.
Micro biologically pure mineral water costed RM10 for 500ml. It tasted like plain tap water. the ginger ale tasted like it was mixed with water and loaded with ice. you know, scammers always cutting corners. They tried to make the food seem to have more class by naming all the dishes in italian. even the heading of the menu was italian. i had trouble ordering. I ordered the only thing i found that had lobster. for appetizer, i ordered a clam and mussel tomato soup. which tasted like old tomato juice, mixed with garlic, sambal belacan, and certain herbs.
The lobster pasta i ordered tasted like crap, basically. It looked like puke. Had a bad stomach ache after that. they tried to decorate the dish with parsley and whole cherry tomatoes, but it only made the flavor more messed up. There was a pasta dish that tasted like mee goreng but it was way uglier cos it was cooked with squid ink. So what if you use exotic ingredients? It doesn't make it better. The place is good if you're an alcohol connoisseur. They have 3 storage units only for their wine and champagne.
I could insult this restaurant more about their decor and bad taste in culinary arts. But I've already held off posting this blog for a week now. My advice, read reviews of restaurants before trying it out.

Road Trip (Part 2)

So, ever since I got that idea of going on a road trip after SPM, I've been pouring out ideas adding to the plan. I kinda thought up of going in a van (in the possibility we can't get a VW bus). The one with at least 7 seats and a lot of room for stuff. Have it tuned and ready for a haul. Make sure the radio and air-conditioning works.
And then I thought about the stuff we're gonna bring. I thought we could save money and cook our own food when there's a chance. Pack up some bricks and wire mesh to use as a grill, a torch lighter, some coal. Not forgetting grilling utensils. Fishing gear, since it would mostly be a beach trip, we could find a place we could fish off the shore and grill the catch. A few portable lawn chairs, in case there aren't any on the beach. Basic beach gear, a towel, blanket, radio, shades n stuff.
In the case of not finding an affordable place to sleep, camping gear might come useful. Tent, flashlights, bug repellent. Also serves as a changing room for anyone who feels weird bout changing in public. Money is important, a waterproof wallet should do a good job. Emergency credit/ATM card in the van.
I suggest pack really light for clothing, probably about 5 or 6 changes of clothes, swim wear, some warm clothing too.
Other than that, just live out the trip without a worry.

Road Trip

After those hours constantly thinking about what's gonna happen after Form 5, I kinda feel like I should do something while still being teenagers. Something extraordinary for someone like me. I figured it should be something that makes me feel alive. Then I was in a conversation with a friend about vintage classic rides. Like Vespas and VW buses. I got to the topic about what I'm gonna do with something like a VW bus. Then I remembered a picture I saw on deviantart. It was a picture of a beach, the shape of a VW bus in the corner on the picture, a couple sitting intimately on the beach and a few other people kicking back on/around the bus and they were all staring out into the sunset. I felt a strong attraction to that picture. I wanted to be in it.
So, I started remembering about that trip to Genting I had recently. I remember that it was actually the best day I have ever had. No kidding. The day was perfect. 4 guys doing anything they want in a good entertaining environment where everything went their own way. PERFECT. So, I thought, why not see how much luck is on our side. Go on a road trip, our own ride, our own rules, our own life. Live it. Love it. Let it go.
I checked out Google Earth. I saw some places of interest that I would love to take a bunch of friends armed with a VW bus to. I haven't planned everything out yet. But roughly I plotted out that I want to go south. South towards Singapore. Figured 10 days is a good time. I figured the first day, we pack up our stuff, the VW (or at least some other fuel economic vehicle that can fit a few people and their luggage, and possibly a place to crash in the case of an absence of a motel or any place to sleep. Hell, why not take some tents with us?), and just get on the road, bright and early. Take half the day, or some of the morning to get to our first stop, A Famosa. Tour the place, learn a bit. Be a tourist for a while. Good place to take pictures. Spend about a day there.
The next day get out on the road again and head down to JB. Hear there's good shopping there. Something for the girls (if there would be any). Take a break there for the day, maybe spend a night out on the town, check out the night life. The next day head down to Singapore.
Singapore also has good shopping, and some good places to take pictures. Good sightseeing meaning to say. The zoo, bird park. Historical monuments. Tour the place. Spend another day there, check out the beach, maybe. Then the next day make our way back up towards KL.
But first head back to Melaka. To Tanjung Bidara. Me n the parents used to go down there to fish off the shore, and roasted the catch for dinner. Thinking of going there with the gang one day. Why not slot it in with the road trip? Call ahead for the motel I love going to so that there's a reservation. Book the place and get there. Rent some fishing gear, and just chill out. And later that night, cook the catch. If no catch, could always try the nice seafood joints that litter the place. Spend 2 days there.
Then for something a bit more exciting, we head up to Port Dickson. Beautiful beaches, sunsets, souvenirs, possibly the night life. Chill out on the beach, relax. Take a break from all the moving around. Let our worries float away. And pray there's no tsunami coming.
And when we've seen it all, we just head straight back up to KL, back home to our families and go on with our lives.

So, the map is set, just a bit of planning to go with it. Need to check with motels, transportation, who's going, and money. I'm hoping this trip will happen, and I'd give just about anything for this trip to happen.

New Yearh

Yeah. That's how I spelled it. A cross between a Year and and a Yeah. I mean, it's the new year. So what? The only difference is that I'll get even harder subjects in school and I need to expect more of people's birthdays.
My new year started with hell. I mean, all hell broke loose when my mom decided to do something incredibly stupid and had to smack me around in the morning when she heard 'Dirty Little Secrets' play on my phone alarm and thought that I was only being lazy and played some MP3's before waking up. Sometimes I think she's just getting old and going crazy. Haven't spoken to her in the past 2 days. Didn't even look at her. Now I'm just waiting for that decision of disowning me. She broke my headphones. The one's that's not even supposed to be at the computer.

On the positive side. Going back to school was great. Yeah. Got bored sitting at home and just didn't want to hang around my mom so much. Somehow, I wish I could be in some sort of organization or club that involves me staying back at school more so that I would spend less time at home. They finally changed the mod math teacher to someone useful. Always did like Pn. Zanariah teach me stuff. Though, she's not my favourite teacher but she does a pretty good job at it. I finally finished the prefect's guide book. The manuscript is with Pn. Lim right now and is due to printing soon.

I also got to wear my blue tie back now. xD. Sorry, just had to add that emote. Just a bit happy.

So, that's how my year started. Good. Steady. Hopefully it ends the same too.
